This place is good when it's not packed. Had a salmon BLT... It was ok. Gigantic hunk of salmon (which was slightly under done) on a nice roll. Prices are good for the portion size. Staff is very nice, friendly and attentive. The patio gets pretty jammed on nice weekends outside sometimes so get there early

I agree with the review below that says most of these reviews don't give the place justice. Maybe it was bad in the past or something. My experience here has always been good. I've sat on their patio for a few hours with my siblings and gotten a very impressive (cheap) bar tab. The food isn't outstanding but its still good. The reuban rolls are actually excellent. Someone on Facebook asked for a good spot to get a burger in Mount Airy and a lot of people suggested Memories so I'll have to revisit soon and give it a try. I can't remember what else we've eaten but I do know that nothing as been horrible. I love the outside patio!

Honestly, the reviews do not do this place justice... My boyfriend and I took the bike up here for the lunch special and sat at the bar. We each got the $8 lunch special, which was a great deal.. The buffalo chicken soup was the soup of the day and we both enjoyed it! I ordered ribs with a side of fries and they weren't out of this world, but they were pretty good. The bartender was very friendly and she got our drinks promptly. We chose to sit inside because it was 90 degrees that day, but they have some nice outside seating. Overall, this was a pretty good place!

Decent food but pricey, so are the drinks, best in spring and summer when the patio is open, the one bartenders been there forever and thinks he owns the place, usually a good time though...

The reviews took us aback, but were spotty enough that my wife and I visited on a weekday evening. We were neither wowed nor disappointed, though the empty restaurant and bar. combined with the ample competition throughout the shopping center, suggest this venue may not last forever. Typical sports bar fare, though my Salmon BLT was better than most and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Fontina Chop. Waitstaff was competent and the bar was filled with plenty of hi-definition televisions. Pricing was very fair for the quality and caliber of the food; compares favorably with Green Turtle and Glory Days, which one may consider competitors. The menu is a little more limited than those sports bar chains. One wonders whether the low ratings were on nights when the kitchen was overwhelmed; our Wednesday visit was quite the opposite. We'd be back if again in the area in search of similar convenience, though MCH is not the type of venue worthy of a special destination or unusual effort.

Well, nothing but bad memories from this place. While dining, my sister had the urge to throw up. The ribs were very watery from what my sister said. The sliders were very bland, and my salmon BLT was very overcooked. Overall, bad experience.

Food and drinks are pretty standard here. I had the santa fe salad which was pretty satisfying. The prices are not bad either. All in all just your regular local bar. At night I believe they do have some good drink specials now and again and live music out on the patio. It's a good hangout spot in the summertime with friends outside

A memory I would like to forget. I ordered the French Onion soup, which needed more bread and seasoning; Penne Di Marie, which was drowning in butter/wine sauce & the cook forgot to add the shimp; and hot fudge sundae, which was just O.K.

Decent food, nice patio to hang out on in the summer except for all the smokers, they should have a smoking section outside. Very loud if they have music inside. Waitresses are super nice. The bartender Austin is creepy. My friends are I just want to drink & he's always hitting on us & saying gross things. I wish he would quit.

This place sucks.I used to go there and sit at the bar and drink, evertime I ordered food I finally realized the guy would go in the freezer and pull out some frozen meal and prepare it for me.Terrible food.I finally went back after many years because a friend of mine said there was a kickass guitar player playing there one Saturday nite. This guy was up on a chair playing a killer guitar solo, and this old gray haired spinster looking woman who apparently was the manager was yelling at him thru his solo to get down off the chair, but the guy couldn't hear her,and you could see her getting angrier by the second. The place is full of a bunch of yuppies who live in a 500k dollar house with plastic siding in one of the mt airy housing developments trying to look cool with their Harley tshirts, and their women look like a PG County transplants with cigarette.fake boobs and no class.

I moved into the area and I can say I have eaten here many times.. The food is great.. The staff has always been helpful and friendly.. I have yet to have a bad meal.. I have been here on a weekend night as well as a week night and it has been constant for me.. I will say that it is great pub grub .. they have a a fair amount of things to choose from..

The food is passable (for the price), and the wait staff are mostly friendly. This is definitely a "redneck" bar. Expect a few Confederate flag tshirts and bandanas at the bar. Sitting outside means sitting next to table after table of chainsmokers. Stay inside if you don't like smoke. The chairs are falling apart and are uncomfortable for more than 15 minutes.

I honestly was shocked at how bad Memories has fared on yelp. If it wasn't for the fact that I was meeting friends I would have probably never gone based solely on the reviews. I would have to say that I was glad I gave it a shot. No the food was not mind blowing, and no there was nothing creative and totally different then what you may get at any other bar. But the food was good, for what it was bar food. There was a nice outdoors area where we were able to sit and enjoy the weather. The waitress was great and very attentive. We sat down took advantage of the happy hour specials and had some drinks. Noticing that we were going to be eating with plastic silverware it is probably best to realize that the place having you use plastic silverware isn't the place to expect to have something really 'fancy'. But I ordered a burger with fries, the fries were slightly undercooked but I enjoy soggy fries sometimes. My burger was cooked just how I asked and tasted great. If it hadn't been for the great service we received would have probably been 3 stars which is a testament to our waitress. We sat outside so there were people smoking, I feel like that just comes with the territory, I did not however see any confederate flag shirts and/or bandannas.... All in all was happy with the experience!

Boy, sure wish I had consulted Yelp for a review before coming here. My experience mirrors that of the others who posted negative reviews. Bad, food, inattentive servers and the place just smelled bad. When I walked in at 6pm and there were only about 5 tables full, I should have turned right around and walked out. I typically try to patronize independent restaurants rather than chains but in this case, Applebee's is looking pretty good! Take my advice and avoid this place like the plague and maybe you can save yourself any "bad memories".

Was a little worried after seeing all the reviews, but we decided to try it anyway, and we are glad we did. Our service was good, if our waitress was busy, we always had somebody else helping us. The crab dip and crab cake were great. Will definitely go again.

Good Points: Stella Artois (a mediocre Belgian assembly-line entry, but still better than any American big name brew) on tap and Keno. Bad Points: Oh, where do I begin? I'd heard good things about the pulled pork at Memories Charcoal House, a nondescript shopping center bar & grill with all the charm of a Ruby Tuesday without its flair, quality control or trained waitstaff. When I arrived, only four of the 20, or so, tables were occupied. I ordered that pulled pork sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The fries were inedibly cold and hard and the minuscule portion of slaw measured out at about a tablespoon. And then there was that sandwich. Has anyone at Memories ever been to a real barbecue house where the the filling of a pulled pork sandwich is made up of stringy small slivers, plumper juicy chunks, and all manners of brown and black crunchy bits where the meat got too close to the heat? It's that melange of textures that makes a pulled pork sandwich something great. What's served up at Memories is, for lack of a better phrase, pork-flavored tapioca on a roll. I suppose they decided to call it "pulled pork" because that's what was written on the can they scooped it out of. The person who recommended the sandwich had asked me to buy her two while I was there. I added her to-go order to mine so it would be ready when I was finished. Twenty minutes after I was presented my check, the two other sandwiches had yet to arrive. Finally, I had to leave my table and track down the waitress. "How much longer have I got to wait for those two sandwiches?" I asked. "I don't know what's going on," she said, badly feigning concern. "I'm going to shoot them if they don't hurry up." "Don't forget to keep one in the clip for yourself," I mumbled to myself as I trudged back to my table. Ten minutes later, the sandwiches arrived, and I left without saying a word to the waitress. I let my tip do the talking.

New Owners. The ribs are fantastic. the really big guy behind the bar is George, Super bartender. Great locals place, Keno football Nascar etc. Pretty good happy hour.2 or 2.50 beers. They also have the biggest fried clams ever. they are yummy.... Seee ya there.

I went there at three in the afternoon there were only four tables in the restaurant filled and three tables on the patio. The waitresses on the patio were more concerned about gossiping and talking with the regulars then they were serving me. It took 10 minutes for one to come over. I got a soda and a menu and then waited another 20 minutes before she finally returned. When she returned I jokingly said I thought you weren't coming back, and she replied in a very sarcastic tone I was only inside. I ordered a New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and baked beans. It took a half hour to get my meal. My steak was supposed to be medium and it was well done. This steak tasted like water no flavor at all. the mashed potatoes were a mixture of instant and real potatoes. Yet they are advertised is home made mash potatoes on the menu There was a funny side to it I was served plastic ware for a steak meal. Every thing was cold except the gravy that was poured over everything. I call the waitress over and she acted as if she could care less. I never again will go there it was a horrible experience. Waffle house in Frederick serves a better stake than memories

Well, I feel a tad funny giving it only one star... because I never spoke directly to anyone who worked there, nor saw the menu, nor had a bite to eat. This is all I have to say: When I overheard most on the patio complaining of service, and none of the 6 table tops with any food in sight (except one group who from the beer, the cig's and the empty plates most likely had been there a while)... this is what came to mind when the reply from the bartender who had come out to check on a family of 6 was, "We really have no one to cover the patio" - and mind you I am not in food service so this could be ALL WRONG: When the day is nice and you have no staff for the patio... Why don't you close all or some of the patio? Or, my business brain says: put out the "hostess will seat you sign" and then EXPLAIN this to people who wants to sit out side. I am assuming if you sat inside, you would have good service. Maybe I am wrong there because head count is head count and staff to patron ratio remains the same, only the proximty of the patron to the staff is better. But if you knew the risk you were taking after the situation was explained instead of wandering around, asking anyone insight "Is the patio open? Do you seat yourself? Do you go up front to a hostess stand?", you may still choose to sit outside. I was personally hungry. I have never left a place before, but with not so much a nod, an "I'll be over." no water, no menu, and feeling impending RAIN which would damper my trip home (due to an over-turned RV on I-70 West I had no idea how long the ride down 144 would be back to Frederick) I can't believe I just went to Arby's! (No dig on Arby's, but I really wanted some food and a cold beer!)
